Business Licenses

Each food outlet premises require Business License prior to commencing operations. Eventhough aunty selling "Goreng Pisang" at sidewalk have a license. So Get the license at the Municipal Council or District Council or City Hall before start your business.

Checklist of the Requirements for Hawkers' Licence Application in Malaysia

1. Submit the hawkers licence application form.
2. Copy of TY2 injection and copy of Food Operator Course Certificate
   get the injection first at nearest clinic
3. Copy of business location plan.
4. Copy of vehicle's Registration Card and photo of vehicle for application involving mobile hawkers.
   If you business involving vehicle, get the Registration Card and take a photo of your vehicle
5. Copy of Identification card
6. Two (2) passport sized photos
7. Copy of business registration ( SSM )
8. The building Certificate of Fitness of for Occupation or lease agreement and permission from building owner.
9. Copy of Fire Extinguisher Receipt @ Fire Department letter of recommendation.

Ensure clear about the conditions required before you apply the license to avoid back and forth to the municipal offices if you fail not to fullfil the requirement.

Shop Selection

People say if you wants to open restaurants, lt must at place that have a lot of people. But did you know, this place has a high rental rate. Great revenue. A lot of people say it is a worthwhile investment. But, is it really worth?

For example the rental is RM2500/month. I am required to pay a deposit of 2 months deposit + 1 electric/water = RM7500 (Contract 2 + 1). The value is actually high for me to just have a small capital for RM7500 only for shop, not talking about renovation yet, plus electrical, kitchen appliances, cooking materials and capital.

So I decided to get for the cheaper shops at a small area. It is good to have at the middle of the existing budget. Although the location of shops in the area of dense population, it is appropriate to look for experience opening restaurants.
